Editorial policy

We use primary sources for factual specifications and distinguish provider claims from our own observations. We publish firsthand findings only when that work has occurred. Commercial relationships do not determine factual labels, access to free tools or whether a useful noncommercial option is included. Readers may report errors through our corrections page. We recheck consequential changes before republishing.

Sources and dates

Important factual statements link to their primary source and show the date it was checked. Unknown values are labelled “Not verified” rather than given a confident yes or no. We show source and review dates, not an invented freshness label, and a date changes only after a real review.

Original work

We use transparent calculations, dated source fields, genuine comparisons and original worksheets. We add hands-on findings only after completing them and do not claim personal experience through a synthetic author. Desk research, hands-on use and independent testing are labelled separately, and an untested product is never called tested.

Research and professional review

Editorial research is not professional review. We do not describe a page as medically or professionally reviewed unless that review has taken place, and no reviewer’s name, title or affiliation appears without verification and permission. Review intervals

School and program status, software plans and commercial offers receive a 30-day review interval. Evergreen workflow guidance receives 90 days. Regulator and source links are checked monthly. We never refresh a verification date automatically: a link that still loads does not prove its content is unchanged.

Corrections

We record the page, issue, source, owner, resolution and date of every correction. A change to a central record updates every affected page. If an error could mislead a purchasing or professional decision, we pause the statement or link until it is verified. We publish a clear correction note when warranted and do not hide a substantive change behind an automatic updated date.

Commercial relationships

Comparisons use declared task criteria or alphabetical order. Commission cannot influence a factual score or eligibility result. Read the affiliate disclosure for how commercial links are identified.
